Mary Jane McAlpine had married Thomas Venus in Glasgow on 31 January that year.Known as Jane, she was the grand-daughter of Jean McFarlane, christened at Buchanan, Stirling in 1759.
Hi Angus,
I would be interested to know more about your McFarlane ancestors.I don’t have access to the book you mentioned, although I see it is in the catalogue of the State Library of New South Wales http://library.sl.nsw.gov.au Clarence River Pioneers by G.Dennes, 1939-1943, Mitchell Library, A920-091/D.You can email me direct if you like: secretary@clanmacfarlane.org.au or post a few more details online.
Glenda
Glenda,
my McFarlane ancestors arrived in Sydney (10/5/1839) on the ‘British King’ which might be added to the list you’ve compiled.A detailed account of their migration after arrival has been compiled by Gordon Dennis (‘Clarence River Pioneers’).Perhaps this might be of interest to others.
Cheers,
Angus.
